Using Video for Internet MarketingA Couple of nights ago I was catching up with my friend John (we met each other during the last official 30 Day Challenge), and he was explaining how he uses FaceBook Pages to help market.  He has put a few together and included me. 

While he was putting the pages together (they didn’t take long) I was facinated by the quality of these pages and the relative lack of time they took.

Anyway, he has become a master at using web 2.0 sites to market.  So, I said to him, "why don’t you write up a report and post it on Blue Sky Brothers, LLC."  I figured you guys would be interested on how he is using his skills to generate traffic and cash.

He said he would but it may take him a couple of days.  Fair enough, I thought but I wanted to get some of his information to you as soon as possible.  So he said, that he had some good information about using video to help market products and services.  I told him that if he sent it, I would post it.  So below are just a few tips about marketing using video and a tip for YouTube.

Why YOU should USE Video in Your Internet Marketing  (From John)

Online video is fast becoming a great way to engage an audience and market a relevant product or service.

The use of video allows the maker to distribute a message to touch many of the viewer’s receptive sensors. These would include a visual picture, audio either via speaking or through music, and the use of visual text. These are the different ways people learn, and by combining all of them, the person absorbs much more of the information you are presenting. 

In the internet marketing past, the use of banner ads and paid search listings were a very accepted and used way of effective advertising. But in the modern and ever changing Internet Marketing world, the use of video has evolved with the ability to stimulate the senses in many ways.

The use of video can enrage the viewer, create a sense of sympathy for the person or cause depicted in the video, or tickle the funny bone. All of these stimulated senses ignite the viewer to pass this on to others with messages like "Can you believe they are doing this", or "This is the saddest thing I have ever seen", or… "You’ve got to watch this…I laughed until I cried"…thus…the viral potential of the use of video is mind boggling. Thus, the use of online video can reach thousands of viewers for a minimal investment making the ROI of video marketing an incredible bargain.

YouTube Tip…

In the "About This Video" Description box Write a mini article for your video using keyword rich information targeting all the keywords you want to be found by from a searcher.

Use your tags to get more views by using similar tags to a video that has been watched many times.  Check out the tags in that video and see if you can use some of them in your tag string. When people are watching a video..videos deemed similar based on their tag sting show up to the right in the "Related Videos" box

Make sure you have a call to action at the end of the video and prompt the viewer to click on your website link located in your description. A great way to do this is use a "pointer" or if you are in the video…simply point to the decriptive box and say "click on the link at the end of the video"

Be sure to include you website url in the description…you must include the http:// to make it a clickable link so the viewer can easily click on the link to visit your site.

    I think that social marketing or viral marketing has become one of the most important tools we can use to gain organic traffic.

    Many people seem to get more information out of video type information. I am still old school enough that I have to read something to remember it.

    That being said as a marketer I love having 3 different ways to get the message across. We have been working with all three in some of the research we have been doing. Our marketing members certainly get something different from each of the three ways of presentation.

    So it is definitely beneficial for anyone to use video and podcasting to give folks an option and it will help with conversion in many areas.
