Product Launch and the Details
August 27, 2007
The details of a product launch are critical. There are so many components that need to be thought through to ensure a positive experience for your customer, that at times it can be exhausting.
For instance, Jerry and I are working on the release of Blogging For Riches and on Friday we meet to cover a few of the details. We went through our project plan to review what we've accomplished and to re-prioritize so we could get clear on our release date.
It was a good meeting but as always time went by to quickly.
For those of you that don't know, Blogging For Riches is a video tutorial that charts our progress of building niche blogs. We actually provide our viewers with a birds-eye view as we build profitable niche blogs, (we even take an old static site and convert it to our platform of choice and watch as traffic and profits are generated.)
One of the key details that we are working through is our delivery of the product. Jerry and I both agree that we're going to set up the product page as a online hub for our customers, similar to a membership site, except that it is only a one time cost.
In doing so we can easily add additional bonuses and video updates with new tools for our customers. This will ensure that Blogging For Riches, always stays on the cutting edge. We think our customers will appreciate this and the high quality will help our overall business.
Our challenge is deciding which script we are going to use to manage this process. Initially, I was thinking that using the aMember Pro script from CGI Central was what we were going to use because I use this script on other membership sites that I have and it works well.
But then I began to look at EasyMembershipPro because for $297 you can purchase a license to use on any number of sites that are developed. This would give us scalability. I opened up a support ticket with them to find out if it would meet our specs for this product launch. Apparently the next release of the script will incorporate our needs and since we're not sure when this release will happen, we are forced to continue looking.
I continued to search and found a solution (I think), in a product that I knew existed, but didn't realize that it could meet our needs. It's called DLGuard. Based on the features, it appears to works perfect for our product page. We can host all of our content in a protected area.
Jerry and I haven't made a firm decision as of yet but we welcome your feedback. Let us know what script you use and why. Please leave your feedback in our comments section.
Thanks
Greg
