Product Creation and Internet Marketing
April 8, 2007
Sometimes the only thing you get is the sizzle!
How many times have you read a sales letter and said, "this sounds good, I'll give it a try."
Only to find that the sales copy over-sold the product and the product was a let down. This happens all the time. Seems to me people spend more time on their sales letter than on the development of the product.
Selling the sizzle works at generating the sale but if your steak is not top quality then your business will not grow.
Recently, I set out to find information about product creation and I found a post by Eric Graham's, titled Under promise and Over Deliver. This post really drives home this philosophy.
I especially appreciate his commentary about lifetime customer value. He states,
"Sure, you can fool people into buying (for a while.) But, you simply can’t build a healthy, long term business around the "all sizzle and no steak" model."
This is outstanding advice. Subsequently, if you provide a high quality product and over deliver on things like customer service then you will position your company for positive growth.
Keep this in mind when building your business.
