Can You Believe Wal-mart is Doing This?

March 27, 2008

Normally I post about Niche Marketing, Making Money Online, or Internet Marketing related stories but today please indulge my departure from my customary post.

This post is about greed or bad taste, whatever category you feel it falls under.

But first, I want to give you the background on how I discovered it. I believe the original story was found on CNN.com and I’ll share the link in a minute.

I actually discovered this story because I am a subscriber to sxephil on youtube.com. I find his video rather humorous even if I don’t agree with everything he says but I digress.

So I watch his video and towards the end he shares the details about a brain-damaged women and Wal-mart.

Apparently, a women (Debbie Shank) was in a traffic accident some time ago and it was so severe it caused irreversible brain-damage.

So what does this have to do with Wal-Mart?

She was an employee before the accident and the fine print on her health plan authorized Wal-Mart to recoup what had been paid out in benefits. So they went after Mrs Shank’s money that she received from the trucking company that owned the vehicle that hit her.

Anyway my commentary doesn’t do the full story justice. So make sure you take time out of your day and read this story. It is very sad but I bet it gets you a little agitated with Wal-Mart.

Here’s the link to the story and please leave us a comment and tell us what you think.

Yes, actually, I can. Just type “anti Walmart” in google and you will get pages of stories about the company’s questionable activities.

    Hi Marilyn,

    Thanks for stopping by!!

I am surprised more people are getting tired of this. I was shocked when I read the story, although the company has the legal right, it shows absolutely no comittment to the employee and community.
