Give Comment Luv with This Wordpress Plugin

February 12, 2008

I originally read about this Wordpress plugin on Jack Humphrey’s Blog.  I thought to myself, "this sounds cool, I need to try it."

Of course I didn’t take any action at the time.  In fact, I don’t think I even downloaded it for later installation, which is my normal process.  Instead, I moved on because I was probably focused on something else.

Well…

A friend of mine sent me a note through Skype today and send I should check out this plugin.  Ok, I never said I was fast to jump on something - even when it is good!!!

So tonight I have it installed and I haven’t even tested it to see how effective it is.  Here’s the deal.  The plugin pulls the last post of your commenter.  How cool is that.  It gives them a nice incentive to leave you a comment.  Hopefully it creates a nice little buzz.

Hmmm, I wonder if it help perpetuates more spam?

We shall find out.  Since I have a tight control over my moderation of comments I feel that the benefits will outweigh the headaches.   So if your interested in downloading this plugin I recommend you head on over and download it for yourself.  Remember the wordpress plugin is called CommentLuv.

So bring on the high quality comments my friends, you will be fully rewarded!

commentluv here

Thanks

Greg

    Hi Greg,

I don’t so much have a comment on the plugin (I’ll install after writing this) but on your issue with not taking immediate action, even when you know it’s something good…..you know, I do the same darned thing! Now I know I’m not the only one out there who does this (LOL). I’m working on changing it. ;)

I’ve seen this plugin on a lot of other blogs and have wanted to put it on my sites for a while, but like you said, even if something sounds great, actually getting the motivation to hit the download button and the activate button in the plugin control panel for Wordpress, it takes a little bit. I finally did download and install it and am waiting to see it work it’s magic. I think the plugin sounds great, as it encourages people to post more comments and initiate conversation because they are outrightly promoting their own blogs by posting a comment on mine and I love that link love.

Im curiouse now that you have had the comment luv plug-in running for a while if you have noticed a large increase in the amount of spam comments you are receving? I’ve been thinking of using it just dont want to spend all my time moderating comments

Comment Luv is great. I use it myself. And for acting on something. I suppose one should just do it :-)

If you do not have a wordpress blog that you can add your own choice of plugins, it must be really awful reading about this great plug in.

And anyone with a wordpress blog will help you setup yours if you need help, just ask.

Thanks for stopping by. All comments received are moderating and approved before being released. It can increase spam comments but overall I’ve found that it has actually reduced the overall spam I get on all of my blogs.

This is an awesome plugin! I am brand new to blogger and have learned alot about the internet over the last month or so. These plugins only work on wordpress blogs though right? I use blogspot blogs because I can’t get my mind around wordpress yet. It’s so confusing for us newbies. But this looks cool. I gotta learn wp!

I think that Comment Luv is an awesome plug-in that is more in line with the spirit of how linking should be done. I’ve got it on all my blogs and think it’s helped my inbound links and some of my SEO rankings for longtailed keywords.

This is the second blog today letting me know to get CommentLuv!

And I should really do it, I think its a great concept, and definitely make use of browsing new blogs.

Here I go, setting it up now :)

  41. Thomas on December 6th, 2008 12:46 pm

The comment luv plug in is absolutely essential. The whole dofollow movement will definitely drive so much more traffic to your site. Of course spam will run rampant but span and the web go hand and hand…..no way around that!
